MCC Theater: Dear Friends, This year I had the pleasure and privilege of working...

mcctheaterblog:

Dear Friends,

This year I had the pleasure and privilege of working with MCC Theater on The Submission by first-time playwright Jeff Talbott. It was an amazing experience for me, a life-changing experience for Jeff, and a shining example of the great work of MCC. With this in mind, I am asking you to make a year-end donation to support MCC Theater’s programs.

When I first read The Submission, I knew it would inspire lively debate. It’s a play that gets under your skin about things that people generally don’t talk about. Even better, it doesn’t provide easy answers. It was a risky project, like most of what MCC produces, which is why I knew that we’d all - artists and audience - be in good hands.

MCC is committed to empowering artists and providing a safe space for taking risks. It’s a spirit that’s vital to creating work that resonates deeply - work like The Submission, and last season’s The Other Place. It’s also a spirit that is not found everywhere and yet it runs easily and seamlessly through everything that MCC does. My cast mates and I experienced it from first rehearsal to closing night. We saw it in MCC’s Youth Company students who came to the show and then knocked us out during an intense discussion of the play. And I know that Jeff experienced it working with MCC on his first produced (and now award-winning) play - and continues working with them on his next play.

It’s a profound commitment to artists and by extension to audiences, and it’s what makes MCC a great place to experience theater - as I am sure you already know.

As the year comes to a close, please make a donation to support MCC Theater. Your gift will help this great theater company keep developing and producing the kind of bold work - with professionals and students alike - that enriches our shared experience of the world.

Thank you for considering my request.

Sincerely,

BLAST! i missed this post a few weeks ago but i still want to reblog anyhow. Wherever you are in the corner of the world, contributing to non-profits, and specifically theatre non-profits is a great way to give back. As someone who used to intern at a np (NYTW, holla!) and now currently works at one, it’s amazing and inspiring to see people give and know your donation (tax-deductible!) is SO much appreciated. So even though it’s a new calendar year…think about giving back to the theatre community…or any community for that matter. xo
